* * * About the Book * * *

Do business and pleasure mix? Interior designer Carrie Newman could not have envisioned a more perfect life for herself. She had a great job doing what she loved, wonderful friends, and a close relationship with her sister and brother-in-law. Add in an amazing man who she’d hoped would soon become her husband, and her life was perfect. Until one devastating decision ruins her relationship and changes the course of her life. Determined to make a new start, Carrie leaves Texas and heads to Palm Beach to pick up the pieces of her shattered and broken life. The last thing she expects is to find herself attracted to her first client at her new job–Brad Larson, who has proven himself time and time again to be caddish. But there’s something beneath the surface of Brad’s arrogant exterior that keeps her craving more of him–something almost sweet that Carrie can’t seem to resist. Is Carrie ready to take another chance on romance? And will this new design of her life prove to be the right one?

What inspired you to write this book?

Author Isabella Louise Anderson

I was inspired to write The Right Design when I participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for my first time. Being a panster, not a planner, I had no outline or idea about what the book would be about. All I knew was that I wanted to write a book in thirty days (I know, it sounds daunting, right?!). Though, on day thirty, having completed the book during NaNoWriMo was a wonderful experience, and helped me understand what being a dedicated writer means, (especially when you have to write 50,000 words in a month).

How did you pick the title?

After I decided that my main female character would be an interior designer, I knew I wanted that to be part of the title. Since this book is about starting over, and wondering whether or not to mix business with pleasure, I thought The Right Design was fitting.

While writing the novel, did you relate to any one character more than the others? If so, which one, and why?

Carrie and I both come from loving families. We work hard, and have a big heart, which is why—whether it be our friends or lovers—we love so hard. Also, the bond Carrie has with her sister is the same bond I have with mine. While Carrie and Sara’s circumstances are fictional, there were parts that I wrote that had me crying, as I thought of how much I love my sister.

Do you plot out a book in advance, or do you allow the story and characters to dictate how the book will play out on the pages?

Like mentioned above, I was a panster with The Right Design. However, my next release, Cards From Khloe’s Flower Shop, was outlined and planned. That being said, I have a feeling that each book I write, the way of going at it will be different.

If you could meet any author (living or dead) for lunch and a one-on-one chat, which author would you choose and why?

Great question! I would have to say Danielle Steel. I read so many of her books when I was young (probably younger than I should’ve been allowed). To this day, her books are still as breathtaking as they were back then. She’s definitely an inspiration!

How many books have you written? If more than one, do you have a favorite? If so, which book and why?Cover Photo, The Right Design, Isabella Louise Anderson, Kathleen Irene Paterka

I’ve written two books, along with a short story, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, which is in the anthology, Merry & Bright, but out of all of them, I’d have to say my next release, Cards From Khloe’s Flower Shop, is my favorite. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever written, and I can’t wait to release it.

Are you a full-time or part-time writer? Do you write every single day?

I’m grateful that I can say I’m a full-time writer, but right now, I’m full-time into the editing mode. Though, when I’m in need of a break, I work on my Scentsy business (wickless candles and more), too.

Who are some of your favorite authors, and do you feel they’ve influenced your work?

I have so many favorite authors—Mary Kay Andrews, Emily Giffin, Meredith Schorr, and Philippa Gregory, just to name a few. Whether it’s the storyline, a character, a quote about their writing/editing process, or anything else, I do feel that they’ve helped influence my work. I look up to these women, who have the innate ability to create books I could read over and over, and never get tired of them.

What writing project are you working on now?

I’m in the process of editing my second book, Cards From Khloe’s Flower Shop, and am outlining/beginning to write my third release.

Do you have any advice for someone who wants to write a book?

I strongly advise anyone who wants to be an author to participate in NaNoWriMo. This month-long experience will change your life. Not only will you learn about your writing skills, you’ll learning things about yourself, too.
